How to pick a lash artist you can trust

Five questions to ask before anyone glues anything to your lashes.

Lash extensions sit right next to your eyes for weeks at a time. It is worth taking five minutes to make sure you are in good hands.

1. Are they licensed?

Ask about their license and training. A good artist is happy to tell you where they trained and what they are licensed for.

2. Do they do a consultation?

Your eye shape, your natural lashes and your lifestyle should all shape your set. If someone starts gluing without asking you anything, that is a red flag.

3. Do they talk about your natural lashes?

Healthy sets are matched to what your natural lashes can carry. Extensions that are too long or too heavy can stress your lashes. A good artist will tell you when a look is too much for you.

4. Is the space clean?

Look for fresh disposable tools, clean linens and an artist who washes their hands or wears gloves. Lashes should be separated so they are not glued together.

5. Do they explain aftercare?

You should leave knowing how to clean your lashes, what to avoid in the first day, and when to come back for a fill.
